SED Submission As of November 1, 2000, ocean carriers will begin charging $100 for each paper Shipper's Export Declaration submitted. This charge can easily be avoided in either of two ways. First, as an exporter or freight forwarder, a company can register with the U.S. Census Bureau to file SEDs electronically through AES Direct. Registration and certification are simple and straightforward. Best of all, AES Direct is FREE to all users! Go to the Census Bureau's website at www.aesdirect.gov, call them at 800-549-0595, or email them at askaes@census.gov. Other charges have occurred in the regulations regarding foreign purchasers and the U.S. Principal Party in Interest. Please make sure you are familiar with these new regulations. Information can be found at www.census.gov and on the AES Direct website. Mediterranean Shipping Company Effective September 1, all motor carriers in need of tire reparis on route (not flat tires), should call our new emergency road service.
The only mechanical Repairs E.B.S. is authorized to perform is to help a driver, with a loaded reefer, to reach the final destination. Any Motor Carrier who uses a road service other than E.B.S., will be reimbursed only according to the terms of the "intercahnge Agreement". This could result not only having their invoioce refected, but also be liable for the cost of replacing the tire again. The motor carrier is, as per "Interchange Agreement, responsible for repairing flat tires and/or replacing tires, which are damaged due to drivers' negligence or fault. (Letter dated on August 31, 2000)
